Submission of abstracts for workshops

NOTE: DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS HAS EXPIRED!

Under the conference theme “BUILDING BRIDGES - CONNECTING PEOPLE” we will be exploring notions of developing relationships between deafblind people, families, friends and professionals. Bridges not only connect people but enable movement and development, independence and growth of potential.

The seminar will have a total of 24 workshops in the programme, and the ADBN co-ordinating group has invited people to submit abstracts to the workshops.

All abstracts - following the guidelines below - should be e-mailed to adbn2010@cfd.dk .

Deadline for abstract submission was 26 February 2010.

The co-ordinating group will review all submissions and notice of acceptance will be sent to the author by the 15 May 2010.

Instructions for preparing and submission of abstracts for workshops

The purpose of presentations at the ADBN conferences is for people to go away with new information, practical ideas and areas for further research.

Please read these instructions carefully before preparing your abstract.

Each workshop is one hour and must include interaction and/or discussion. The co-ordinating group has agreed on a workshop format of max. 40 minutes of presentation and 20 minutes of discussion. Workshop presenters are asked to prepare topics and/or questions to spark the discussion.

Abstracts must be written in English and in no more than 500 words.

Your abstract will be printed in the conference information as it is received. No further alterations will be possible after submission.

Your abstract should clearly state the topic and content of your workshop, as well as two or three aims that you set for your workshop.

In addition to this, your abstract should include the following information:

  • What is the new information you are sharing about the topic in your workshop?
  • How do you intend to engage the workshop participants in interaction and/or discussion?
  • Have you presented information on this subject anywhere else within the last two years? If so, please tell us where and when?
  • How will you present your workshop, for example using Power Point, Video, DVD, Overhead Projector etc.?
  • Contact information: Name, address, phone number and e-mail (including any co-presenters).

Making your workshop accessible for all seminar delegates

It is important that all the presentations and workshops that take place at the seminar are accessible for everyone who attends.

The organising committee aims for the physical environment to be fully accessible and will be providing technical equipment such as loop systems for individuals who need this.

We need your help to make sure your presentation is fully accessible for participants with sensory impairments. If your paper is accepted, please take note of the following:

  • Please submit your full manuscript and copies of any handouts or information papers, as well as your PowerPoint presentation to the organising committee no later than 10 August 2010. This makes it possible for the interpreters to familiarize themselves with the content that they will be interpreting.
  • Please make sure any handouts/information you plan to distribute during your presentation are available in Braille and Large Print Formats. We will suggest that you make a minimum of three Braille and three Large Print Copies (bold face, font 16).
