Aim

The general aim of the Information Center for Acquired Deafblindness is to collect, develop and adapt knowledge on acquired deafblindness. More specifically, the Center aims at utilizing this knowledge base to help maintain the highest standards at all levels in all sectors of the Danish society working with people who have suffered a serious impairment to their sight and hearing.

Via the dissemination of information about acquired deafblindness, the Information Center aims to promote efficient and comprehensive access to professional knowledge and experience in the field.

Among the Information Center's main activities are:

  • Distributing information through all appropriate channels - website, newsletters and other printed material, videos, presentations, articles in newspapers and professional journals etc.
  • Generating new knowledge through research and development projects
  • Finding, collecting and documenting professional knowledge and experience from all relevant areas, both nationally and internationally
  • Answering inquiries by telephone, fax or e-mail
  • Conducting systematic searches for relevant information nationally and internationally
  • Arranging and holding conferences, seminars and courses

In order to be able to meet its objectives, the Information Center must collaborate with many different individuals and agencies. Maintaining nationwide contact to its target groups and participating in national and international professional networks and events is also essential to the Center.

We regard cooperation with the deafblind themselves very important, particularly with regard to new research on the disability. It is also crucial that the Center involves as many of the relevant professionals working for local authorities as possible. This collaboration allows the Center to collate information gathered through the individual expertise and experience of those working in the field, via the exchange and comparison of ideas and information.

It is essential for The Information Center to have a close cooperation with agencies and organisations all over the world. If you want to exchange ideas and information, please don't hesitate to contact us.
